Frequently Asked Questions

How long does shipping a car from Australia take?

Trans-Tasman to New Zealand: 10–14 days port-to-port. To UK or Europe: 35–45 days. To Japan: 14–21 days. To USA: 25–35 days. To the Middle East: 21–30 days. Add 7–14 days for destination customs clearance.

Do I need to deregister my car before export?

Yes. Your state RMS deregistration letter is mandatory and must be lodged with customs at the export declaration stage. We coordinate this with you and the relevant authority.

Can I claim back GST on the vehicle being exported?

If the vehicle was purchased through a GST-registered business and is being exported within 60 days of supply, you may be eligible to recover the GST. We'll point you to the right ATO documentation — check with your accountant for your specific situation.

Will my car qualify at destination?

Every receiving country has its own rules. NZ is easy for RHD Australian cars. The UK accepts RHD without major issue. Japan is excellent for performance classics. The USA generally requires 25+ years for non-modified imports. We pre-check eligibility before you ship.

Should I use RoRo or container shipping?

RoRo is the cheapest method and best for standard vehicles. Use a container for high-value, modified, low-clearance or rare cars, and any time you want to ship personal items with the vehicle. We recommend per-vehicle in your quote.

What does marine insurance cover?

Full-risk marine cargo insurance covers loss or damage from the moment the vehicle leaves your premises to the moment it arrives at the destination address — including handling at both ports. Premium is around 1.5% of insured value.

Can you pick the car up from anywhere in Australia?

Yes. We arrange inland transport from your driveway or yard to the nearest export port. Coastal shipping is also available between Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Adelaide.
